Introducing Airstream: Stork's Data Delivery Service

July 8, 2025

Stork Data Feeds Are Now Natively On-Chain

Today, we’re excited to announce native on-chain availability of Stork Data Feeds, making it easier than ever for fully on-chain applications to integrate with Stork. Airstream, our newest delivery service, uses a push-based model that eliminates the need for developers to manage off-chain infrastructure. Stork now handles on-chain data delivery end-to-end, enabling smart contracts to access reliable price feeds without operational overhead.

This launch reflects our continued investment in supporting decentralized applications with seamless access to fast, accurate, and verifiable data.

Stork’s Foundation: Engineered for Performance

As the decentralized finance landscape rapidly evolves, delivering a seamless user experience is no longer a differentiator; it has become a baseline expectation. At the core of that experience is high-performance data infrastructure.

Stork was built to meet this need. Since day one, we’ve focused on providing the highest-quality data feeds tailored for the next generation of decentralized applications. That focus has shaped every layer of our product, resulting in core features like:

  • High Throughput: Multiple price updates per second
  • Low Latency: 10ms end-to-end latency from 20+ centralized exchanges
  • High Reliability: Guaranteed zero downtime
  • Extensive Data Catalog: Support for long-tail assets and specialized feeds like Mark Prices

To support these capabilities, Stork pioneered an off-chain oracle, now often referred to as a pull-based oracle, where we continuously aggregate, verify, and audit data from trusted publishers, making it available at sub-second latency and frequency. Applications can access this data via API and use our Chain Pusher (part of Stork’s open-source tooling) to bring it on-chain as needed.

While this hybrid delivery model has been highly effective, especially for decentralized derivatives protocols with their own off-chain infrastructure, not every application is equipped to manage both layers. For fully on-chain apps, native integration is essential.

Introducing On-Chain Feeds with Airstream

We’re thrilled to bring the same high-fidelity price feeds available off-chain directly on-chain, powered by Airstream, our on-chain delivery infrastructure.

Airstream automates and guarantees the delivery of data to Stork’s smart contracts, removing the operational burden typically associated with pull-based feeds. There’s no need for your team to handle monitoring, alerting, or be on-call to put data on-chain. You can now get access to new feeds in minutes on-chain, with the same speed to market you’ve come to expect from Stork’s off-chain feeds.

Feeds are updated on-chain via configurable heartbeats, triggered by either time elapsed or percentage change in price, giving protocols complete control over data freshness. Unlike rigid push models, Airstream allows applications to access these feeds precisely when needed. Once an hour? Every block? The cadence is fully customizable to meet the specific requirements of each protocol. As a result, blockchains can now offer Stork’s on-chain data feeds as a flexible public good, enabling a broad range of use cases across the ecosystem.

Plume and Sophon are the first chains to integrate Stork’s on-chain feeds, with more integrations already underway. With this release, Stork significantly expands its ability to serve new use cases from lending protocols and CDPs to vaults and other fully on-chain applications.
